International Day of Human Fraternity

4 February

Human fraternity for peace and cooperation emphasizes that people of all religions and beliefs share common human values, and that dialogue among them is essential for mutual understanding, tolerance, and lasting peace. By promoting education, cultural awareness, and interreligious and intercultural dialogue, societies can reduce discrimination, respect diversity, and strengthen social stability. Rooted in the UN’s commitment to a culture of peace after World War II, this approach recognizes that peace is built through cooperation, dialogue, and shared responsibility for one another. In this spirit, the UN established the International Day of Human Fraternity on 4 February to affirm our common humanity and encourage harmony among all people.
