Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water
Solutions focused research into climate, biodiversity & water issues on the islands of Ireland & Great Britain
The evidence on climate change, biodiversity loss and water quality is scattered across thousands of papers. Nobody can read them all.
This project Linking Environmental Health to Human Health for Future Resilience uses AI to gather and summarise that literature, then puts researchers in charge of checking the outputs against expert-reviewed work and IPCC reports. The end goal is a searchable evidence base that policymakers, researchers and land managers can actually use.
Lough Neagh is the central case study. Toxic blue-green algae blooms there, driven by agricultural runoff, a warming climate and biodiversity loss, have damaged the ecosystem and raised real concerns for public and animal health.
