DAERA has launched an inaugural public appointment process to appoint a Chair and 15 Members to the Just Transition Commission.
The Commission is a statutory body established to provide independent oversight of the implementation of the just transition elements of the Climate Change Act (NI) 2022 and advice to NI departments on how to ensure that proposals, policies, strategies and plans required under this Act comply with the just transition principle.
The Commission will include representatives from 12 mandated sectors: academia, civic society, fisheries, trade unions, agriculture (x3 representatives), energy, green finance, transport, built environment, environmental groups (x2 representatives), rural and youth groups.
The closing date for applications is 12 Noon on Thursday 25 June 2026.
