Call for Papers: Education in the Anthropocene – deadline 6 March 2026

Are you researching or writing about how education can help society navigate the challenges of the Anthropocene — from climate change to inequality and transitions to a net-zero, nature-positive future?

Humanities & Social Sciences Communications (a Nature Portfolio journal) has just opened submissions for a new curated Collection on Education in the Anthropocene — and you’re invited to submit!

This Collection seeks original research, reviews and commentaries that explore the role of education in enabling societal transformations such as equitable transitions to sustainable economies, developing sustainability-aligned learning and pedagogy, and connecting education with broader socio-economic and cultural change (e.g., SDG 04, SDG 11, SDG 13).

Key themes include:
• Defining Education in the Anthropocene and its role in societal transitions
• How STEM and other educational approaches support sustainability transitions
• The values and pedagogies shaping how societies learn about sustainability
• Interactions between education, technology, equity and environmental goals
• Education policy and practice that advance global sustainability aspirations

Submission deadline: 6 March 2026
Submit via Springer Nature’s manuscript system – open to all researchers whose work falls within the scope.

Share your insights with a global audience and contribute to a deeper understanding of how education can shape resilient, just and sustainable futures!
