The Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative (FFNPT) strives for an international regime that complements the Paris Agreement by addressing the supply side of fossil fuels. This year, the Season of Creation Committee decided to push for adopting the FFNPT.

Endorse the Treaty

Lorna Gold described the importance of the Fossil Fuel Treaty in her talk to Join the Dots Together in Ulster University in January 2024. She said, that “putting the oil and gas industry in charge of the process to tackle climate change is like putting the tobacco industry in charge of tackling lung cancer.” She spoke about the emergence of the Fossil Fuel Treaty concept and its meaning to the COP participants.
